A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 14, in Grass Valley for Jack Hauser. Please contact Jean at 268-8866 for more information. Mr. Hauser passed away July 4. He was 86.

Mr. Hauser was emblematic of a generation of Americans. He fought a war because it had to be done, started and raised a family based on love and brought his country to greatness through education and hard work. Mr. Hauser went from Army medic at the India /Burma front during World War II to X-ray technician to administrator of one of San Francisco’s leading medical centers. He leaves precious memories of generosity, humor and love for his children.

Mr. Hauser is survived by his sons Michael, Patrick and Tim; daughters-in-law Jean and Kim; granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Justin; grandsons Alex and Matt; great-grandsons Ezra and Eli; sister-in-law, Doreen; nephews Dave and Don; nieces Merlelyn, Lori, Jeanie and Melitsa; grandnieces Kristin and Tess; stepsons and wives Scott and Olivia and Steve and Kim; four step-grandchildren; and family friend, Robin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue.

Mr. Hauser was fortunate to share the last years of his life with his second wife Peggy. Mr. Hauser’s final wish was to have his ashes join the other veterans – including those of his brother-in-law, John, at rest and final peace at the VA cemetery in Dixon
