Jack Fontz

Jack Brock Fontz, 81, of Sacramento died Wednesday, July 28, at Sutter General Hospital.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Burial was at the North Bloomfield District Cemetery in the Fontz Family plot.

Mr. Fontz was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Grass Valley, to John Albert and Vera Alice (Brock) Fontz. He attended local schools and graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1939. He was active in sports during school and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many years in North Bloomfield, where his family had an interest in a mine.



He served in the U.S. Army with the 532 Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment from 1941 to 1945. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 37 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. He was a member of the Teamster No. 150 in Sacramento.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Fontz; parents; and sisters Beverly Locke and Beatrice Wichstrom.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
