Services will be held Monday at Colonial Chapels in Vallejo for J.W. Wallace Jr. of Vallejo.

Mr. Wallace died Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Vallejo. He was 83.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. vigil at Colonial Chapels. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Vallejo. Burial will be at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Wallace was born in Hastings, Okla., to James and Maddie Wallace. He was a 36-year resident of Vallejo.

A recipient of the bronze battle star, Wallace served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After the war, in 1945, he met his wife, Jane Morales, in Colorado Springs, Colo. They were married the same year in Rodeo and then moved to Vallejo.

Wallace worked as an operator at Union Oil, from which he retired in 1976 after 31 years. He and Jane spent their retirement years in Grass Valley until her death in 1992. Wallace returned to Vallejo in 1999 to be closer to his family.

Survivors include daughters Sandra Hoeft of Vancouver, Wash., and Kathy Zander and Pam Montgomery, both of Vallejo; sisters Reba Robertson of Rodeo and Leola Ryals of Santa Fe, N.M.; and grandchildren Lisa Hanes of Oregon, Greg Hanes of Washington and Keith Zander, John Montgomery and Lindsay Zander of Vallejo.
