J.E. Reid

J.E. “Bud” Reid of Grass Valley died Saturday, Feb. 9. Family members will gather in the spring for a private celebration of his life.

Mr. Reid was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Stamford, Texas, to John and Glau Brigham Reid.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He worked as a project manager and superintendent of construction for several construction companies at sites across the United States. He retired in 1992.

He enjoyed reading, woodworking, boating, fishing and hiking in the Sierra and Rocky mountains and spending time with his family.

He was married to Shirley Reid. After her death and his retirement, he moved to Grass Valley in 1992 to live with his sister, Rose Hicks.

Mr. Reid is survived by his sons Warren Reid of Pennsylvania and Wayne Reid of Southern California; daughters Cindy Engel and Susan Barner of Colorado and Sandra Tozzie of Florida; brothers Rex Reid of Truckee and “Jeep” Reid of Washington; sisters Elsie Hullum of California, Bee Mills of Utah, Rose Hicks of Grass Valley and Joyce Melugin of Grass Valley; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Curt and Dean; and sister Ola.
