The Fourth of July parade, which alternates between Grass Valley and Nevada City, will be at the latter’s downtown area this year.

With a theme of “United We Stand,” the parade proceeds down Broad Street at 2 p.m. with more than 100 entries including marching bands, antique vehicles, fire engines, floats, equestrians, performers, clowns and politicians.

Following the parade will be the annual day-long family celebration at the Nevada County Fairgrounds with live music, entertainment, children’s activities, a craft show and food, concluding with a fireworks show.

The parade is free. Admission to the fairgrounds’ celebration is $8 for adults and free for children 12-and-under.

The Nevada County Fourth of July celebration is cosponsored by the Nevada City and Grass Valley/Nevada County chambers of commerce and the Grass Valley Downtown Association. Call the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce at 265-2692 for any questions.
