It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Downtown Nevada City is taking on a Victorian Christmas look and feel with natural green swags on the gas lights just as was done years ago during the holiday season. Each swag is decorated with a simple red bow which adds to the ambience in the warm glow of the lights.

The buildings in town are highlighted with small Christmas lights which create the magic image that is Nevada City’s signature. Store windows are decorated in the Victorian mode which creates a spirit that captures the Christmas mood.

The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all Nevada County residents to “Shop Locally” during the upcoming holiday season.

The merchants offer a diverse selection of quality merchandise at very competitive prices. Many local shops provide free gift wrapping, lay-away and personal customer service. Most stores are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to at least 5:30 p.m. Some stay open into the evening hours.

Shopping locally benefits the local community through taxes, employment and economic development. “Visitors and residents appreciate the old fashioned customer service and friendly atmosphere of doing business in Nevada City” said Chamber of

Commerce Executive Manager, Cathy Whittlesey.
