It took nearly 2 centuries for women to gain voting rights

I just read a recent Letter to the Editor about messing with voting rights. Since March is Women’s History Month, I’d like to set the record straight.

The writer of the piece states that it “took a century to gain equal voting rights.” Actually, it took nearly two centuries for women to legally have their voting rights acknowledged.

Beginning with Abigail Adams’ challenge to her husband to “not forget the ladies” until 1920 when suffrage was gained women braved dangers we often forget or underestimate.

So, let’s remember the ladies now and always.
