Is truth a smear?

Well, let’s see if I got this right. Mr. Ackerman writes a column panning a movie by Michael Moore which is unflattering to President Bush. For the next several weeks, the “letters” page is filled with mail scolding Mr. Ackerman for reviewing a movie he had not, and will not, bother to see, and I do not disagree with that.

Now it seems the Sinclair network has a documentary which may be unflattering to Senator Kerry, and they plan to air it sometime prior to election. Guess what? The Kerry campaign organization and their lawyers are screaming “unfair!, smear tactics and it’s all lies,” therefore it should not be allowed to be on the air. Have they seen it, or is the truth possibly a smear? I dunno, but I’d like to see it and decide for myself.

Seems to me the liberal element wants it both ways. What am I missing here? Is the truth an attack?
