A memorial was held Saturday for Ariella Sage Crawford at Robinson Plaza in Nevada City, marking the one year anniversary from when she was fatally shot by a deputy off Names Drive in Alta Sierra.

A warm and welcome gathering of community members came together Saturday afternoon in Nevada City’s Robinson Plaza to hold a remembrance and celebration of life ceremony for Ariella Sage Crawford, one year after she was fatally shot by a Nevada County sheriff’s deputy off Names Drive in Alta Sierra.

The plaza was decorated with bright colors while music played and people danced or hula-hooped.

The event was organized by members of Street Care and Nevada County Harm Reduction, with hopes to hold similar events in the future.

Herbal first aid kits, bottled water, sleeping bags, Narcan, fentanyl testing strips, snacks, coffee and burritos were among some of the supplies and treats offered to those in attendance of the event.

Those seeking assistance from the group can contact them at streetcaremc@gmail.com.

The District Attorney’s Office has not yet released an after-action report about Crawford’s shooting.
