Hula Dance Group

Nevada County’s unique, award-winning Hula Dance Group* is gearing up for its 6th Annual Yard Sale Saturday, and the pickins’ should be fine: Top-quality Hawaiian memorabilia, clothing, furniture and collectibles. Members of the group will dance at the sale, which is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 203 Pleasant St. (corner of Neal), Grass Valley. Shown here dancing at Eskaton, the Ohana also travels to competitions around the country, one of which was in Seattle, where last year it won most of the first place awards, according to instructor Dale Ku’umomialoha Deacon of Penn Valley. For more information on joining the group, contact Cindy Waipuna Kelley at (530) 477-5687. *The group’s official title is “Ka Hale Hula O Pilialoha O Kalani O Hilo O Grass Valley,” referred to in brief as the Ohana.
