Howard Landers

A wake for Howard Griffin Landers of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley.

Mr. Landers died Friday, July 30, in Grass Valley. He was 67.

He was born April 12, 1937, in Berkeley, to Harold and Marion Landers. He graduated from high school and attended trade school in Berkeley. He was a typesetter for the Gazette Press for 30 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Auto Club and Jazz Fests. He enjoyed drag racing, Celtic Festivals and car shows.

He is survived by his sons Brian Landers of Grass Valley, David Landers of Sparks, Nev., and Kevin Landers of Grass Valley; sister, Marion Ferro of Grass Valley; and grandsons Paul Landers of Sparks, Nev., and Avery and Joseph Landers both of Grass Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Landers family, P.O. Box 1483, Penn Valley 95946.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.

4 dead in Truckee plane crash


Authorities say four people were killed in a Monday plane crash after a Bombardier Challenger jet on approach to Truckee Tahoe Airport went down in heavily treed terrain adjacent to the airport along Reynold Way.
