Hooray for Massachusetts!

I believe America is finally waking up relative to this health care reform bill. Amid many reasons to dislike this bill, the taxing of health care benefits is outrageous, and the allowance of union members and government workers to be exempt until 2018 is even more so. All premiums paid to insurance carriers should be tax deductible with no qualification. Those who don’t receive their insurance benefits from an employer should be allowed to deduct their premiums in total.

This dividing of Americans is going to come back and bite us. Don’t forget an existing tax that neither party has been able to remedy, the AMT (average minimum tax), a previous enactment to get the rich decades ago and an onerous burden on the middle class now.

With regard to the reckless spending by this administration and Congress, my Obama-supporting friends just snarl in response to any comment regarding this and state, “George Bush started it.” If a man decided to dump a 50-gallon drum of toxic waste into a creek, and the next man comes along and dumps four 50-gallon drums of toxic waste into the creek, and he then blames the first guy, is that reasonable thinking to you? Wake up.

Hooray for Massachusetts! Hopefully, the days of party loyalist toadies is coming to an end.
