Honoring Chavez

Thank you to all of the 57 people who gathered to participate in the first annual Honoring César Chávez program last Friday evening at the Madelyn Helling library. We filled the empty food basket with $451 for the Citrus Freeze Relief Fund of the United Farm Workers Foundation.

A special thanks goes to Vonnie Steffler, who gave unstintingly of her time and energy behind the scenes to make the event successful. Heartfelt thanks also go to Tom Davisson for his wonderful photographic exhibit of farm workers in the 1960s; to Susheela Farrell, Nory Fussell, and Utah Phillips for their music and songs; and to Nory Fussell, Kate, Brendan, Mary and Annie Woolley, Jim Cline, George Carter, Tom Davisson and Vonnie Steffler who made “The Life and Words of César Chávez” come alive.

ÁSí, se puede!
