Honor those who fight for our freedom

On Memorial Day, we honor our brave servicemen and women who paid the supreme sacrifice, fighting for our freedom and freedom for other countries and people in cruel regimes that were ruled by tyranny and terror.

My family has many combat vets, going back to the Civil War. We have those killed in combat in each of our wars except for Iraq. Our prayers and hearts go out to the families of lost warriors of freedom, fighting in Iraq and all U.S. conflicts.

The stars and stripes flies in front of our home every day and has for many years. No other flag deserves to be displayed in this country. Our flag declares the honor of freedom that men and women fought and died for while in combat, for the precious freedom and sovereignty they believed in their hearts.

Support our troops in Iraq and around the world. God bless them and their families.

If you spat on servicemen during the Vietnam War, why don’t you tell everyone by writing to the editor at The Union? How shameful and unpatriotic.
