Hoedown to follow last NC farmer’s market of the season

Scoop up the last of the harvest at the final Nevada City Farmers Market of the season.

Saturday’s market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Union Street downtown and will be followed by a Halloween Hoedown starting at 5 p.m. in the former Broad Street Furnishings building, 210 Broad St.

The Hoedown is the second of two annual fundraisers which help support the Market’s infrastructure and operations. The event will include a soup and bread dinner, live music and contradancing with Ragged But Right, a live auction, raffle prizes, and local wine and beer.

Auction items include an original print by David McKay, a private wine tasting with Grant and Eddie winery, a weekend stay in Lake Tahoe, and a farm consultation with organic farming guru, Amigo Cantisano.

General admission is $8, children 10 and under get in free.

The market will re-start in June 2011. For more information, visit http://www.NCFarmersMarket.org.
