HIKING IN GOD’S COUNTRY WITH NEW FRIENDS

Dan Macon, the new Executive Director of the Nevada County Land Trust, is continuing the “Treks Through Time” program with the able talents of Robin DeNegri, Coordinator. The treks were started by Cheryl Belcher and continue to be popular with residents who love being outdoors.

For those who can’t hike, the Land Trust offers “Armchair Treks.” One on January 25th focuses on “The Story of Lake Olympia.” On Feb 22, Dr. Billingham’s trek will cover emergency medicine–a must for hikers, skiers and outdoor enthusiasists. On March 29th, “Gold Minind Techniques” and “Our Mining Heritage” will be covered.

In February, join others on Sunday, Feb 19, for a snowshoe trek in the Castle Peak area led by CAthy Anderson-Meyers. Saturday, March 11 will be the date for “A Sierra Ramble” with Bill Nickerl. This is the last leg of the 100 mile Endurance Run and Ride. Hike is moderate, about 4 miles, mostly down hill.



Bill Haire will lead a hike through trails in the Alta Sierra area on Saturday, March 25. Karen Callahan and Susan Graf will lead hikers on a tour that offers a feast of wildflowers on a 3,000 acre volcanic plateau on April l.
