Herschel Perkins

Herschel E. Perkins died July 12 in Lincoln.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 18, at Newcastle Cemetery, 850 Taylor Road in Newcastle.

Hersh was born July 30, 1925, in Barlow, Ky. He enjoyed traveling, going to plays with his wife Gloria, and being with his family. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, then owned and operated a printing establishment called King Menus in Hayward. He was a resident of the Bay Area from 1926 until 1995.



He was the loving father of Michael Perkins of Salt Lake City, Utah, Linda Marchus of Lincoln, and Steven Perkins of Santa Rosa; loving grandfather of Rick, Jeff, Scott, Sarah, Rachel, and Rebecca, and loving great-grandfather of Jason, Anthony, Ke’shawn, Andrew, and Christian.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Gloria.




In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s Foundation are requested. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Valley in Citrus Heights.
