Herbert Dodini

A memorial Mass for Herbert “Herb” Charles Dodini will be conducted at St. Canice Church in Nevada City on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the parish hall.

Mr. Dodini died Friday, Sept. 17, at Mount Diablo Medical Center in Concord, where he had undergone heart surgery. He was 82.

He was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Chico and was one of eight children. He served in the U.S. Army aboard an Army cargo vessel delivering supplies to the ground troops. On his return from the war, he attended the University of San Francisco, earning a degree in accounting. In 1954, he and his family moved to Nevada County, where he opened an accounting practice. He and his late wife, Frances, lived in the area for more than 45 years and raised their seven children there. He was an active member of St. Canice Catholic Church and the Nevada City Elks Club. He was involved in the community, assisting at fund-raisers for organizations such as Hospice.



He is survived by his seven children; three sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law; nine grandchildren; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nevada City, Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento, or to Mount Saint Mary’s School in Grass Valley.
