Herbert DeCosse

Visitation for family and friends of Herbert William DeCosse of Grass Valley will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. DeCosse died Saturday, Feb. 7, in Grass Valley. He was 79.

He was born April 29, 1932, in Somerset, Wis., to Herbert W. and Amanda (Rivard) DeCosse. He married Florence Kenney in 1960 in San Francisco. He retired from the Asbestos trade in 1972 and moved to Grass Valley in 1978. He enjoyed playing gin rummy at the Alta Sierra Country Club. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to his roses.



He is survived by his wife, Florence of Grass valley; sisters Ruth Plourdes of Somerset and Elaine DeCosse of Stillwater, Minn.; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Norman DuFresne of Minneapolis, Minn.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Owen and Nancy Kenny of Grass Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeannie Akin; and brothers Bernard and Vilbon DeCosse.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
