Help critters at AnimalSave’s holiday auction

Be a Santa Claus to homeless pets by shopping at AnimalSave’s Santa Paws Holiday Auction. One of the largest and most anticipated auction events of the holiday season, Santa Paws allows caring people to “shop for a cause” while enjoying fine wine, hors d’oeuvres and a festive holiday atmosphere.

Just a few of the items on sales are Tony LaRussa baseball memorabilia (donated by the World Series-winning coach himself); a rare, framed Thai temple rubbing; fine-dining certificates; and, of course, pet supplies.

The money from this typically sold-out event will help find homes for pets. AnimalSave, a project of the Golden Empire Humane Society, finds homes for hundreds of homeless animals each year, spays or neuters nearly 1,000 dogs and cats annually, helps with humane feral cat control and assists low-income people with veterinary bills.

Santa Paws will be held Sunday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miners Foundry Cultural Center, 325 Spring St., Nevada City. Advance tickets are available at AnimalSave Thrift and Treasures (520 E. Main Street, Grass Valley) for $10 each until Friday, Nov. 17; or at the door for $12. Contact 271-7071 or go online at http://www.animalsave.org.
