Helene Sandoval died May 22 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and caring cousins from Arizona. Her wish was to remain in her home and her wish was granted with tenderness and love by her five children. She departed from this earth, but not from our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7, in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Sandoval was born in Raton, N.M. She resided in Grass Valley for the past 16 years. Her husband, Felix Sandoval, former owner of The Glass Shop in Penn Valley, predeceased her in 2001. Together they raised five children.

She loved flowers and her garden, and also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Concord in the 1970s.

Mrs. Sandoval is survived by her five children, David Sandoval of North San Juan, Phyllis Hanania of Chico, Denise Sandoval of Antioch, Gary Sandoval of Concord and Michelle Barnes of Grass Valley; their spouses; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and her three beloved cats.

Memorial donations may be made to AnimalSave, P.O. Box 817, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
