Helen Larsen

Graveside memorial services for Helen Elizabeth Larsen of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mrs. Larsen died Saturday, June 12, in Grass Valley. She was 92.

She was born July 5, 1911, in Bronson, Kan., to Preshton B. and Edith (Johnson) Pettypool. She served with the Salvation Army in 1930. She worked as a secretary for the First Methodist Church in San Leandro and as a personnel secretary for the Castro Valley School District. She was also a volunteer in hospitals and with her church. She enjoyed sewing, camping, traveling, fishing and being with her family and friends.



She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Nannette Larsen of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Johnson of Rockford, Ill; grandchildren Kristine, Rich, Kathleen, Dave and Dan; and great-grandchildren Annabella and Alessandra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Larsen, on Feb. 21, 2004; parents; sisters Beulah Pettypool, Araletta Brandon, Edith Hopkins and Ruby Quinby on May 14, 2004.

Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research or Guidelines Ministries.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
