Hayden Brown Jr.

Hayden J. Brown Jr. died Feb. 20 at his home in Penn Valley. He was 87.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at St. Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City.

Mr. Brown Jr. was born July 18, 1920, in Commerce, Texas, to Anna and Hayden Brown Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Helen K. Brown on Feb. 13, 1960, in Solvang.



Mr. Brown Jr. retired from Firestone after 25 years. He was a member of the LWW Golf and enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Mr. Brown Jr. is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen K. Brown of Penn Valley; sons Hayden J. Brown III of Las Vegas, Nev., Paul Brown of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Walter Brown of McAllen, Texas; sisters Gloria Crawford of Grass Valley and Betty Zuliani of San Pedro; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.




He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Hayden Brown Sr., and brother, Walter Brown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
