Have a swingin’ time at Bear River

Not exactly “April in Paris,” but if you’re “In The Mood for a Jersey Bounce” or a “One Note Samba,” and you “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” get a “Caravan” together, grab your “Little Brown Jug,” and show up for a “Moonlight Serenade” and some “Stardust.” By the end of Saturday night, March 24, you’ll be saying “Thanks for the Memories.”

These songs and more will be played by the Bear River Jazz Ensemble from 7 to 10 p.m. at the school’s multipurpose room during the eighth annual “Swingin’ to the Night” event under the direction of David Ahrens. Swing dance lessons during the evening will be provided by Jitterbugs Inc. This all-ages dance is a benefit for the Bear River School Jazz Band. Admission is $5 for seniors and students and $10 general. Desserts, coffee and tea will be available. Bear River High School is at 11130 Magnolia Road in the Lake of the Pines area. Tickets are available at the student store and at the door. Call 268-3700 to reserve your tickets; go online at http://www.bear riverbands.org for more information.
