Harrison Slawson

Harrison S. Slawson, 95, of Grass Valley died Wednesday, April 10, in Grass Valley. No services are planned.

Mr. Slawson was born March 22, 1907, in Sacramento to George and Jessie Slawson. He graduated from Sacramento High School and graduated from Stanford University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, in 1931. He married Frances I. Lafferty Nov. 20, 1935, in Sacramento.

He lived in Sacramento until 1962, then moved to Grass Valley. He worked in real estate and insurance. He was also a senior real estate appraiser for more than 20 years and worked in the Nevada County Assessor’s Office.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Nevada County Duplicate Bridge Club.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Slawson of Grass Valley; son, Frank Slawson, of Menlo Park; daughter, Sandra Anderson of Palos Verdes; brother, Jim Slawson of San Rafael; sister, Susan Kramer of Hillsborough; grandchildren Julie Slawson and Eric Slawson, both of Seattle, Knute Anderson of Davis and David Anderson of Los Angeles; and great-grandson Desmond Harvey of Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Stanford University.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
