Harmony Ridge Market set to open 2nd site

Less than a month after a business space was vacated at the corner of South Pine and Spring streets in Downtown Nevada City, plans have already been made for The Harmony Ridge Market to fill the space as its second satellite location, the owners told The Union Thursday.

The original Harmony Ridge Market is located across from the Old 5Mile House that distance from Nevada City along Highway 20 and has long offered travelers a last spot to pick up refreshments on the 20-plus mile trek to Interstate 80. It was established in 1995, according to Yelp.com.

Current owners Thomason and Mark Perdigao have owned it since May 2004, Thomason said, where they have made sandwiches, cheeseburgers, treats and other tasty treats.

“We’re very excited,” Thomason said. “We’ve always wanted to expand our bakery.”

The pair is not closing down its primary location on Highway 20.

“We’re not closing this,” Thomason said. “It’s going to be a second location.”

The downtown location will offer fast health-food options, such as salad and sandwiches, as well as baked goods and organic sushi, Thomason said.

“There’s a niche for our business down there,” she said.

Perdigao and Thomason plan to start the second location the first of the new year, she said.

“We’ve been scrambling,” she said.

The site had been the former location of Nevada City Marketplace until it suddenly closed near the end of November.
