HALGA MENIG

Halga Menig died July 16 at her home in Grass Valley. She was 76.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City. Pastor Linda Line will officiate.

Mrs. Menig was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Globe, Ariz., to Leona Lyden Lane and George Johnson. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in 1953. She married Al Menig on Jan. 23, 1953.



Mrs. Menig was a homemaker. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, a deacon at Sierra Presbyterian Church, and was active in small groups at Sierra Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crosswords, crafts and counted cross-stitch.

Mrs. Menig is survived by her husband of 55 years, Al Menig; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kim Menig, and their children Kyle and his fiancé Sally, Haley and Allison; son, Tom Menig, and his children Ryan and his fiancé Naia, and first great-grandchild, Aya, due in September, and Alela; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Cindy Menig, and their children Miranda, Jack and Joe, and brother and sister-in-law, T. Cuyler and Shirley Johnson.




She was preceded in death by her parents, George Johnson and Leona Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, the Cancer Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
