Guitarists reunite for concert in GV

Franco Morone
ALL | GrassValleyArchive

For Franco Morone, a finger-style guitarist from Bologna, Italy, Saturday’s concert in Grass Valley is more than just another gig.

Morone will share the stage with his Mendocino peer, Alex de Grassi, at the Center for the Arts.

The two finger-style guitarists will play solo sets highlighting new material, then play together in the concert finale.

Morone’s styles run from Celtic to blues to Italian folk music to originals. De Grassi plays originals and his arrangements of jazz pieces.

This is the second consecutive year that Morone and de Grassi have done a mini-tour together in California. They have also joined forces in Europe. They met several years ago at a guitar festival in Italy and run into each other a few times a year on the performing circuit in the United States and abroad.

Saturday’s concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 at BriarPatch, Herb Shop Records, Foggy Mountain Music or at the door.

The center is at 314 W. Main St. Call 274-8384 for more details.
