Guitarist times two at Kirby’s

It’ll be singer/songwriter guitarist times two this Friday and Saturday when Kim Acuna and John Montgomery perform at Kirby’s Creekside.

Acuna writes alternative pop-rock, blues and jazz-tinged originals; Montgomery plays alternative folk pop originals.

Performing since 1993, Acuna has fans ranging in age from late teens to seniors. She founded the Alaska Performing Songwriters Group and leads workshops on songwriting, self-promotion and guitar techniques featuring modified capos and the use of open tunings.

Montgomery’s debut album, “One Step Away,” was released on Santa Monica’s Circus Drum Records two years ago. His originals are influenced by a bachelor’s degree in genetics and a doctorate in neurobiology, both degrees earned before Montgomery decided to work in the music field.

Showtime both nights is 8. There is no cover.

Kirby’s is at 101 Broad St. in Nevada City.
