Guitarist goin’ solo at Center

Guitarist Scott Huckabay returns Friday to Grass Valley for a solo performance of his rock, blues and folk fusion originals.

In his solos, Huckabay uses a violin bow, an E-bow, percussion stylings and other effects to create multi-textured landscapes.

Huckabay, a previous Bam magazine Guitar Player of the Year, has two solo CDs, “Peace Dance” and “Virtual Altar,” and a number of CDs with the world music group Sonic Tribe. His newest CD, “Resurrection,” should be out by April.

He has opened for other musicians, including Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jackson Browne, Sarah McLachlan, Bob Weir, Bonnie Raitt and Joe Satriani.

Huckabay’s 8 p.m. show will be at Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St.

Tickets are $12 at the door. Call 265-8794 for concert details.
