Grumble strips

The rumble strips seemed, at first, to be a good idea, an affordable, albeit temporary, answer to help improve the safety of drivers on 49. First, we put up with long lines behind Caltrans equipment while they painted bright double-yellow lines on the pavement. Soon after, we put up with long lines while they installed the rumble strips (some of which were put over the freshly painted lines). Next we put up with long lines while they repainted over the new rumble strips.

And, now, guess what? Now they’re going to remove some of the rumble strips so that it’s not illegal for residents to cross them while turning into and out of their own driveways. Again, we get to put up with long lines of traffic while they do all this. And we get to pay for it, too!

Who was the brilliant planner who thought this whole plan up? Obviously, we need to have someone with a little more intelligence on that particular planning committee.

Meantime, the drivers who drive that section to and from work (like myself), get to put up with long delays and long lines of traffic. Again. What fun.
