Grass Valley Male Voice Choir to host concert, ice-cream social

The Grass Valley Male Voice Choir will hold a concert and ice-cream social Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Grass Valley, one of the few fund-raisers to benefit the choir.

Since its formation in 1997, the 39-member choir has raised funds for many nonprofit organizations including Habitat for Humanity, churches and area fire departments but rarely for itself, noted Otto Schulze, a longtime choir member.

“The concert will feature popular, fun music and be really relaxed,” said Choir Director Eleanor Kenitzer, who chose songs including “Unchained Melody,” You are So Beautiful,” “Wind Beneath my Wings” and Broadway tunes.

Besides an audience sing-along, the concert will include one choir member playing the didgeridoo and another member on guitar.

Suggested donation is $10 or more.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 6 p.m.

The church is at 236 S. Church St.

Ice-cream and toppings will be served following the concert.

Seating is limited. Call Schulze at 477-2205 for more information.
