Grass Valley brand used for first 3D sportscast on TV

A Grass Valley division video production center was used recently in the first 3D sports television broadcast ever, according to parent firm Technicolor.

The March 24 NHL Hockey game between the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders at Madison Square Garden went to Cablevision subscribers in the New York City area with 3D television sets in their homes.

Fans at the game also watched on a large 3D screen.

Technicolor owns what is locally called the Grass Valley Group. The firm was established 50 years ago and has been a leading producer of cutting edge TV equipment.
