#Pedal-steel guitarist Pete Grant will sit in on the DeadBeats’ annual acoustic show Friday at Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Nevada County’s DeadBeats formed in 1994 to focus on Grateful Dead covers.

Grant, formerly of New Riders of the Purple Sage, was a friend of members of the Grateful Dead and played on their “Aoxamoxa” album. Now living in Auburn, Grant was at last year’s DeadBeats acoustic show and the DeadBeats’ annual Jerry Bash in August at North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center.

DeadBeat members are Paul Kamm and Tom Menig on guitar, Dave Smith on keyboards, Eric Menig on bass, and Gary Campus and Rob Kopp on drums.

After Friday’s show, the DeadBeats will take a hiatus as members work on their own projects for a while. The group will play about three shows a year, beginning next year.

Doors open 8 p.m. Friday; the DeadBeats and Grant take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Admission is $12 general, $10 for students and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door or by calling 265-5040. The Foundry is at 325 Spring St., Nevada City.

Call the DeadBeats hot line at 478-6307 or go to the Web site at http://www.netshel.net/ deadbeat for more information about the group.
