Graham Wayne Walter passed peacefully into eternal life Aug. 10 in Grass Valley.

Mr. Walter was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Newark, N.J. He joined the Marine Corps on Aug. 2, 1950, and while stationed in San Francisco met his loving wife of 55 years, Karin Hoff of Hamburg, Germany. They married in a small chapel in New Berlin, N.Y., in 1953, and in 1954 they returned to San Francisco, where their first son was born.

After serving five years in the Marine Corp, Mr. Walter was honorably discharged Aug. 1, 1955. He received several service medals.

Mr. Walter moved his family to Santa Clara, and there he and his wife had one more son and two daughters. His family was his pride and joy. He worked in the milk business and food services throughout his life, and retired in 1996.

Mr. Walter loved to travel, the outdoors, working in his garden, and most of all, fishing. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching golf and a good football game.
