Grace Griffing

Services for Grace Snell Griffing of Nevada City will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Nevada City United Methodist Church. The burial is private.

Mrs. Griffing died Saturday, Feb. 14, at Spring Hill Manor in Grass Valley. She was 92.

She was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Sherrill, N.Y., to George and Gertrude (Thurston) Snell. She received a B.A. from Beaver College in Philadelphia, Pa. She married Arthur Griffing Sept. 18, 1937, in Syracuse, N.Y. She was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the Nevada City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and Europe. She also enjoyed fine art and fine dining.



She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Griffing, of Nevada City; and brother-in-law Charles Kiehle of De Land, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Griffing, in 1996.




Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, Nevada City United Methodist Church or Child Advocates of Nevada County.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
