Grab Burns tickets by Friday

Tickets for the 11th annual Robert Burns Dinner and Concert on Saturday at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City must be bought by noon Friday.

The event is sponsored by the Gold Country Celtic Society in honor of Burns, Scotland’s national poet.



Celebrations are held around the world. The Foundry’s celebration will begin at 4:15 p.m. and a gourmet dinner will be presented by Christopher’s Catering of Grass Valley at 6 p.m. The Tir Na Nog duo will provide music before dinner.




Dinner includes prime rib of beef or five-cheese pasta, salads, side dishes, haggis and dessert.

Colorful traditional Robert Burns celebration ceremonies will include tributes and toasts to Burns, the Piping of the Haggis, the Toast to the Lassies and the Lassies Reply.

An after-dinner concert will include performances by The Pipes and Drums of the Northern Mines, singers Andy and Varty, the Patsy Hannebrink Duo and the Clan Ingersoll Trio.

Tickets are $48 and are available at Nevada City Postal Co., 228 Commercial St. in Nevada City.
