Gordon Smith

Memorial services for Gordon Earle Smith of Grass Valley will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Grass Valley Senior Center. His ashes will be buried at his father’s grave at Mary’s Cemetery, 38870 Country Road, No. 13, in Woodland. The phone number is (530) 662-9221.

Mr. Smith died Friday, Jan. 24. He was 81.

He was born on Jan. 16, 1922, in California, to Robert H. Smith and Clara M. Lovett. He had been a resident of Nevada County for 30 years. He went to school in Sacramento and served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II. He was a chef in restaurants from Florida to California. He was a member of the German American Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hiking and cooking.



He is survived by his son, Kevin Smith, of Grass Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
