Magnolia 30, Union Hill 20

The Magnolia eighth-grade girls basketball team won a tough battle against Union Hill 30-20 to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Rattlers trailed for much of the game until they turned up the heat in the fourth quarter. Magnolia was spurred on by the rebounding, shot blocking and scoring of Summer Brown and the defensive pressure of Grace Sypnicki and Kailee Guerra. The Rattler defense was dominant in the fourth holding Union Hill without a point in the final quarter.

Brown led all scorers with 13 points while Ashley Albee contributed five. Sypnicki and Guerra each tossed in four, while Kaity Nat and Alyssa Pulkinghorn rounded out scoring with two apiece. The Rattlers will face Forest Lake Christian today and Pleasant Valley on Thursday.
