Gloria Tibbitts Rene’, 83, of Grass Valley, died Wednesday, Oct. 18.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned.

Mrs. Rene’ was born on Oct. 12, 1923, in Cedarville, in Modoc County. She graduated from Orland High School and moved to Hawaii, where she was a nurse during World War II. She moved to back to California, and married Marvin Rene’.



Mrs. Rene’ had two children, Allan and Sharon.

She was a nurse for 42 years at U.C. San Francisco and then at the Redwood City Medical Clinic. After the death of her husband in 1990, she volunteered for the Veteran’s Memorial Senior Center at the Hospitality Desk, where she met Reinholdt “Pete” Petersen, her companion and dancing partner for the last 16 years. They lived in Redwood City before moving to Grass Valley in 2003. She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Bonita Parlor No. 10, and was president in 1970. She was also a member of the San Mateo Historical Society, AARP and Welcome Wagon.




Memorial contributions may be made to the Madeline B. Wallace Scholarship Fund, 154 Cerrito Ave., Redwood City 94061, or Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.
