Giving back to the community

A flamboyant personality, Daniel Brooks surely is. He’s also a generous soul who wants to give back to the community he loves.

Known in Nevada County as a fashion icon and artist for 38 years, Brooks is also a performer, a singer to be exact. The baritone will perform Broadway and popular songs accompanied by Ken Hardin on piano on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Center for the Arts in downtown Grass Valley. He’ll also share some personal stories, which are always worth hearing.

Concert proceeds will help purchase a piano for the main stage, a cause close to Brooks’ heart.

Tickets are $25 donation in advance for general seating and a $50 donation in advance for reserve seating. Tickets are available through the Center for the Arts Box Office, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley, (530) 274-8384, ext. 14, Tues.-Sat. 12-5 p.m.; at the Center’s usual ticket outlets (Briar Patch Community Market, Yabobo in Nevada City, and Cherry Records in Auburn); or online at http://www.thecenterforthearts.org; also at the door, if available.

Call 274-8384, ext. 14, or e-mail info@thecenterforthearts.org.
