Nevada County Performing Arts Guild will present three more performances of “The Mikado” this weekend at Miners Foundry.

First seen by London audiences at the Savoy Theatre and New York audiences at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in 1885, “The Mikado” is still popular today.

Based on operettas by William S. Gilbert and Arthur S. Sullivan, “The Mikado” is about Nanki-Poo, the son of the mikado, or Japan’s emperor, who discovers life outside the palace.

Friday’s performance is at 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.The Foundry is at 325 Spring St., Nevada City.

Admission for ages 12 and under is $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Admission for adults is $8 in advance and $9 at the door. Tickets are at Record Connection, Odyssey Books, BriarPatch and Harmony Books or at the door. Call 277-7100 for more information.
