Get off the fence

Many of my Democratic friends like neither candidate in our upcoming election. They believe the war in Iraq was unjustified; they consider Bush too susceptible to the radical ideas of the neocons and the religious right.

They dislike Kerry for his Iraq support, with some fallout from attack ads, coupled with the fact he is just a “politician.”

I tell my friends who are on this fence that they must disregard personalities. Face it! Are we prepared to saddle this country with an endless financial and casualty drain from a failed Middle East policy, stratospheric (and still growing) budget deficits and a destructive anti-environmental policy? Do we want the appointment of extremist judges on the Supreme Court?

We have to think above the man and consider the overall adverse impact on our country if we do not vote Bush out of office because we don’t particularly like the Democratic candidate.

Need I point out what happened four years ago when too many Democrats liked neither Gore nor Bush and voted their “principles” for Nader? Several states would have voted their Electoral College votes against Bush ” including Florida.
