Germaine Young

Germaine Frances Young died Sept. 18, in Grass Valley. She was 84. 

According to her wishes, no service will be held. 

She was born on Dec. 31, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn., to Francis and Agatha (Carr) Barnes. She was a high school graduate and attended some college courses. 



On Jan. 2, 1953, she married Howard W. Young in Las Vegas, Nev. She had various jobs, which included telephone operator and dispatcher, waitress and clerical work for Kelly Girls. 

She enjoyed pencil sketching, cartooning, water color painting, traveling, gardening and reading classic books. 




She is survived by her husband, Howard; sister, Julie Weaver of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister-in-law, Eleanor Weidman of Missoula, Mont.; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Weidman of Missoula, Mont., Walter Weaver of Minneapolis, Minn., and Bob Smith of Kelseyville, Calif. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Barnes; sister, Muriel Dols; and sister-in-law, Margaret Smith. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 11270 Rough and Ready Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945. 

Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, Nevada City.
