Gerald Tucker

Services for Gerald A. “Jerry” Tucker of Aptos will be conducted April 19 in Aptos.

Mr. Tucker died Friday, April 5, at home from cancer. He was 65.



He was born in Cleveland and spent his youth in Freeport, N.Y. He graduated from Mount Hermon School and attended Stanford University, where he met his wife, Barbara. The couple married in 1959.




He lived in Santa Cruz County starting in 1960, when he joined the county’s newly formed Planning Department as its fourth employee. He became the county’s zoning administrator during his 10 years with the department, and then opened his own consulting company after retiring.

Mr. Tucker, his father and brother designed and developed Forest Springs Mobile Home Park in Nevada County, as well as numerous projects in Santa Cruz County. He enjoyed travel, skiing, hiking, the outdoors and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara “Bobby” Tucker of Aptos; brother, James H. Tucker of Grass Valley; sons Jeffrey Tucker of Livermore and James Tucker of Aptos; daughters Jeanette “Jeanie” Bell of Davis and Linda Sossenheimer of Salt Lake City; and nine grandchildren.
