Georgia Madsen

Georgia Wilma Madsen, a former Penn Valley resident, died Feb. 29 at Marysville Care Center. She was 84.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. Pastor Al Moody of New Life Assembly Church in Marysville will officiate.

Mrs. Madsen was born Aug. 23, 1923, in LaGrande, Ore. She graduated from Northwest Bible College in Washington state.



She worked as a nurse during the 1940s through 1960s and cared for soldiers during World War II. From 1977 to 1985, she was the Penn Valley post mistress at the post office. She lived in the Penn Valley/Grass Valley area for 24 years and in the Yuba Sutter area for seven years.

Mrs. Madsen is survived by her daughter, Tanya Hansen, of Marysville; sons Dennis Madsen, of Grass Valley, and Dean Madsen, of Indiana; seven grandchildren; sister, Jean Smylie, of Washington; and brother, Raymond McMillan, of North Carolina.




She was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years, Richard Madsen; second husband, Louis Brown; and sister, Betty McMillan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holycross Memorial Services in Yuba City.
