Genevieve Howcroft

Genevieve Sarah Howcroft, 83, of Grass Valley, died Friday, Jan. 14, at a local care facility.

In accordance with her wishes no services will be conducted. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Howcroft was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Auburn, to David Milton and Villa Irene (Plummer) McLeod. She was raised and attended school in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School in 1940. She worked in Auburn for PG&E as a clerk. She married John “Jack” Henry Howcroft on April 12, 1943, in Phoenix. They lived in Florida and later in California and Nevada. In 1982 they retired to Nevada County. She was a seamstress and also did needlepoint and knitting.



She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John “Jack” Henry Howcroft of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Genene and Russell Youngs of Edmond, Okla.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael Scott and Heather Renee Youngs of London, Ontario; great-grandchildren Michaela Lynn and Cayden Thomas Youngs. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tiffany Lynn Youngs in 1986; and brother, Amos McLeod.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
