Gary Clark

Gary L. Clark, 64, of Lake Wildwood, died Monday, Jan. 24, at home, following a battle with cancer.

No services are planned.

Mr. Clark was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Coalinga to Maurice and Rosalie Clark. He graduated from Taft Union High School and Taft College. He attended four years at Long Beach State on a football scholarship after declining an offer to play baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Following college, he worked in the oil and gas industry in various capacities in locations including California, Colorado, Louisiana, Alaska, New Mexico and France. He completed his working career in October 2000 as a self-employed oil and gas consultant in Farmington, N.M., retiring to California in 2001. He enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed several years of coaching youth football in Southern California.



He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharron; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Ken Alder and Kelli and Vince Brown, all of Bakersfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945 or the charity of the donor’s choice.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
