From flamenco to clogging, "The Starz Show" has it all

At least 15 area dance groups of all ages and styles will perform five times within a week’s period in Grass Valley, to celebrate the genre and as a benefit.

All groups participating in the second annual “The Starz Show” the next two weekends at the Center for the Arts have donated their time. Proceeds from the show will go to the center and to a new community dance scholarship fund.

“The Starz Show” includes performances by Lovie Bucknell’s Sierra College Modern Dance, Tommyknocker Cloggers’ adult and youth groups, Sierra Dance Institute, Jitterbugs Inc., Glass Bead Players, Movement Alliance, Earth Rhythms, Tribal Fusion, Expressions School of Dance, Troupe Al Alma & Moving Ground with Jacqui Bucknell, Natina Pistone’s students, flamenco dancer Drea Pacot, Venus-Serpentina, Anya Devi and Seven Hills Middle School dance department.

Sierra Dance Institute’s owner and teacher, George Jayne, is the artistic director; Jon Blinder, the center’s president of the board of directors, is producer.

Although tickets will be sold at the door, these shows are expected to sell out. Advance tickets are available at the center daily from 3 to 6 p.m.
