Children’s Festival turns into Renaissance Faire

The daylong Children’s Festival at Pioneer Park in Nevada City this Friday will be a Renaissance Faire for all ages.

Frankie Lee returns to Nevada County, this time to Cooper’s in Nevada City this Friday. Lee, who formerly sang in Ike Turner’s band, has worked with other greats since the 1960s.

a new musical comedy by John Driscoll will be performed at Off Broadstreet Theater in Nevada City. Performances will be at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 7. takes place at Pioneer Park in Nevada City, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 5 to 8 p.m. The Festival is a Renaissance Faire for kids featuring crafts, storytelling, musicians, jugglers, facepainting and refreshments. Sponsored by the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office. Admission is $1 to each session. 265-2165.

take place daily at Empire Mine State Historic Park. Bourn Cottage tours 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m., mine yard tours noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Admission to the park is $3 for 17 and older, $1-for children 6 to 16 years; children are free. Guided tours are $1.50 per tour for adults. Park hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. 273-8522.

takes place at Club Sierra in Grass Valley, 5:15-7:15 p.m. build an internal vocabulary, based on the energetic maps of Gabrielle Roth. These moving meditations tap inot the inner wisdom of the body. $8-members, $12-non members. 265-9119.
